He and Helga have always been passionate about the\u00a0sea, sailing and kitesurfing, so it came as no surprise that they founded the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/r20.rs6.net\/tn.jsp?f=001J96wOwpl5DTusFDl9mXG969FADGgH0oGWMRSciz-HnGcAiMWs-VTm58fARbEKxWZfG-Emw718ZbaDIro-MeZYuZFFCXudJndUJ6J2yZeT9X6t9SzLy7mDDApiJMvLAYxND6aefEBjZ2VGpbcJFA6Yw==&amp;c=nwwGp7i1vn8X7pb9cSuAdbARMg7PL4xzFX4dmRPZX-VSFuFB4BWpHQ==&amp;ch=q-EkL-Hshn85My8pYghAv99F_ZxHgfreDehfR8NhHJJnwJCtQ-uqTA==\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">NuEarth Foundation<\/a>\u00a0to inspire the next generation and create awareness for\u00a0ocean\u00a0monitoring.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n<p>The family wanted to include\u00a0ocean\u00a0monitoring\u00a0in their travels. So Jono spent time investigating the right fit in\u00a0ocean\u00a0monitoring\u00a0equipment. They selected\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/r20.rs6.net\/tn.jsp?f=001J96wOwpl5DTusFDl9mXG969FADGgH0oGWMRSciz-HnGcAiMWs-VTm58fARbEKxWZbYASEjn7bEGaaku-etUvTJ5KZ3JDYnVnN9hUSGrRWu81A9mnPyqzs7nb1SeIjxD8n6hCIN58XPE=&amp;c=nwwGp7i1vn8X7pb9cSuAdbARMg7PL4xzFX4dmRPZX-VSFuFB4BWpHQ==&amp;ch=q-EkL-Hshn85My8pYghAv99F_ZxHgfreDehfR8NhHJJnwJCtQ-uqTA==\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">SubCTech\u2019s<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0<strong>OceanPack\u2122 RACE unit\u00a0<\/strong>\u2013 the same\u00a0ocean\u00a0monitoring\u00a0equipment carried by the Vendee Globe vessel which pioneered a similar\u00a0monitor\u00a0project for its last race.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n<p>Starting in 2019,\u00a0Jono began collaborating\u00a0with SubCTech and James Cooks (Head of Electrical) and Peter Dean (Project Manager) at Balance Catamarans Cape Town to ensure that the unit would work effectively in the Balance 482 catamarans &#8211; including all future models.<\/p>\n\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/r20.rs6.net\/tn.jsp?f=001J96wOwpl5DTusFDl9mXG969FADGgH0oGWMRSciz-HnGcAiMWs-VTm58fARbEKxWZQBfq8XrNQcZUZVOtFawFI0EGDqt9D3MsaTIjFZk6ita7C191POfiVjoYfV_CLnOGSotFck_yM_Pn0UFmrqmsScEX9t2Piw9zW4n9tz83a_hhFKMMnZQoEUMEldG9lVHh7q0P2cjaVVhXSVQd4-USYw==&amp;c=nwwGp7i1vn8X7pb9cSuAdbARMg7PL4xzFX4dmRPZX-VSFuFB4BWpHQ==&amp;ch=q-EkL-Hshn85My8pYghAv99F_ZxHgfreDehfR8NhHJJnwJCtQ-uqTA==\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">SubCTech OceanPack\u2122 RACE<\/a>\u00a0equipment measures PH, salinity, water temperature and CO2\u00a0levels, as well as air pressure and air temperature. This data is then verified by a scientist and then made available to the scientific community to advance research projects. The goal is to build a body of research using the diverse travels of sailors to\u00a0monitor\u00a0sea\u00a0health.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n<p>The unit was installed in Cape Town last week, with a technical team from SubCTech overseeing the installation.
